NLA session makes obituary reference

The 5th session of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) today observed two minute silence and paid respect to the departed leaders. Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio made obituary reference to the passing away of Vikho-o Yhoshu while NLA speaker-in-charge Sharingan Longkumer made obituary reference on the passing away of Netsutso Theyo- ex-MLA, Lutjakai Kuki- ex IBM, Z Katity- ex-MLA and T Torechu, sitting MLA.

 

Vikho-O Yhoshü 

Vikho-o Yhoshü passed away at a Mumbai hospital in 2019. He was 67 and is survived by his wife, 10 children– four sons and six daughters and seven grandchildren. He entered politics and successfully contested the 2008 general election on NPF ticket and got elected to the 11th NLA from 14 Southern Angami-1 Assembly constituency. Yhoshü got re-elected for the 3rd consecutive time in 2018 from the same Constituency and was elected as NLA speaker on March 13, 2018.

 

T Torechu 

NPF legislator T Torechu passed away at 71. He left behind his wife, six sons and one daughter. Torechu won four consecutive elections from 2003 (as BJP) and from NPF ticket in 2008, 2013 and 2018. In 1982 Torechu lost as an Independent and in 1987 he lost as NNDP candidate.

 

N Theyo

Former Minister Netsutso Theyo passed away at 82 and survived by 3 sons, 4 daughters and 27 grandchildren. Before entering politics, he was associated with students' union. "On his death the Naga community has lost a humble leader whose absence will be difficult to replace," Speaker-in-charge said.


 
Lutjakai Kuki

Lutjakai Kuki, former Interim Board Member (IBM) passed away on October 13 at Zion Hospital, Dimapur. Kuki became a member of Interim Body and represented the Kukis from 1961-1963. Longkumer said that his sincere contribution was duly and honoured on the 50th year of Nagaland statehood celebration on December 1, 2013.


 
Z Katiry

Ex-MLA, Katiry was 63 and is survived by his wife, five sons and one daughter. “He was a dynamic leader and on his death, the State has lost a statesman and the vacuum left will be hard to fill,” said the Speaker-in-charge.
