
Dimapur, February 4 (MExN): The Nagaland Law Students’ Federation (NLSF) on Friday underscored the need for Nagaland to have and own a competent State Law college and submitted a representation to the Chief Minister of Nagaland.
According to press release, the NLSF with its tribunals and advisor, held a meeting with Principal Secretary to Chief Minister along with his subordinate officers at Chief Minister’s office on February 3,
During the meeting, the NLSF addressed the importance of quality legal education and legal system in the state and its vision to see many imminent legal personalities coming out from the state. Nagas have the potential to produce identifiable legal figures in the country that will also that supplement the requirement of a fully functional Government/Public Law College in the state, it said.
In this regard, it said that many appeals in the nature of representation, memorandum, and peaceful dharnas have been made to several officials, yet no importance has been given to address the same.
Aggrieved by the non-addressal of the cause, the NLSF approached the concerned authorities of the state for redressal of the legible right of the state of Nagaland to have and own a competent State Law college, the release stated.
The NLSF submitted a representation to the Chief Minister through the Principal Secretary to Chief Minister for establishing a Government/Public Law College “with advertent precrastination in the interest of the law students in particular and the state in general.”
Copy of the instant representation was also sent to the state Minister for Planning and Co-ordination & Land Revenue and Minister for Higher Education & Tribal Affairs for information, it added.
