No fixed number of seats for any state in India on NET

Nagaland’s Higher Education and Tribal Affairs Minister Temjen Imna Along said that there is no fixed number of seats allotted for any state in India regarding National Eligibility Test (NET).

Replying to MLA Yitachu’s starred question at the 12th session of 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly in Kohima on September 22, the Minister said that NET is a national level exam/test to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for Assistant Professor in Colleges and Universities.

He stated that a candidate after passing NET exam is eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor in any University or College in India.

On being asked the reason for not being able to increase the seat allotment for Nagaland, the minister stated, "There is no fixed number of seats allotted for any state in India."

On the other hand, the Minister while replying to supplementary question said that he would try to pursue with the central government and see if there can be room for enhancing the seat capacity for the state of Nagaland.
