Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today informed that the state government is not in hurry for a cabinet reshuffle.

Interacting with media personnel on the sidelines of an event at the State Banquet Hall on Monday, Rio said the matter “is in discussion. But we are not in hurry.”

“We have come together on Naga issue so let this resumption of the (Naga Peace) talks and things get in order, and we will think about the opposition-less government,” he added.

The CM also addressed concerns about the role of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma who recently visited the state and said that the Union Home Minister had requested him and Sarma to assist and make the Naga Political Groups come to an understanding for a solution. He also said that they were having consultations with the Government of India (GoI) and “sharing the minds of the GoI with the negotiating parties.”

Rio said that during Sarma’s visit to Dimapur, it was conveyed that the “GoI is very keen to bring solution so that peace and development can be accelerated.”

Referring to the talks between the GoI and NSCN (IM), Rio said that for about two years, negotiation was stuck because of differences of opinions and some issues. However, the both the parties have agreed to resume the talk, he added.

In this regard, he said that the GoI’s representative AK Mishra came to Dimapur recently and had several of rounds of initial discussion with NSCN (IM) as well as the Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (WC, NNPGs). The CM also said that this time, Mishra could not meet the NSCN (K-Nikki), however, “he (Mishra) says that he was in touch with them and at the right time, he will also talk to them.”
