NPCB & EIACP Nagaland observes National Wildlife Week

Dimapur, October 6 (MExN): The Environmental Information Awareness Capacity Building & livelihood Programme (EIACP) Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB) along with Care-Center for Environment and Rural Poor (C-CERP) in collaboration with Nagaland Zoological Park, Rangapahar organised a programme on the occasion of National Wildlife Week on October 6. 

In a press release, K Hukato Chishi, IFS, Member Secretary, NPCB & EIACP Coordinator Nagaland stated that the programme was held on the theme ‘partnerships for wildlife conservation’ with H Tokaho Kinimi IFS, Wildlife Warden, Wildlife Division, Dimapur and Zupeni Tsanglao, IFS, Director of Nagaland Zoological Park as special guest speaker.

H Tokaho Kinimi IFS spoke on importance of conserving wildlife. He stressed the vision and what we can do to conserve wildlife and emphasised on the importance of having civic sense in order to achieve the goal of conserving wildlife as an individual. Kinimi also encouraged the students to cultivate healthy habits in order to live a healthy lifestyle.

In her address, Zupeni Tsanglao IFS  shared on how one should take initiative to spread awareness in our community, school and  to parents about the importance of conserving wildlife and also discourage hunting of wildlife using catapults, airguns etc.

Khriehunuo Rutsa, Programme Officer, EIACP, gave a PowerPoint presentation on Mission LiFE and the seven themes of Mission LiFE. A short video on Mission LiFE & Prakriti (Mission iFE Mascot) was shown to the participants to enhance their knowledge of MissionLiFE and its importance. 

The programme was attended by 14 students, two each from seven different schools in Jalukie, Peren district, members from C-CERP, Officials and staff from Forest Dept and EIACP, Nagaland Pollution Control Board. The Mission LiFE Pledge was also undertaken by the participants.

Resource materials like boxes, pencils made from recycled paper, notepads and newsletters were given to the participants.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Thiuziuwiliu Rentta, C-CERP, welcome note by Liangsi Niumai Director, C-CERP and vote of thanks by A Mosonio Chachei, C-CERP.
