NSCN-IM sets aside usual R-Day celebration in view of COVID-19

Not taking any chance but fully geared up to face the alarming situation, says an MIP release

Dimapur, March 22 (MExN): In solidarity with the fight against the highly infectious COVID-19 across the world where social distancing is one effective preventive measure, the NSCM (IM) decided to set aside its 41st Republic Day celebration “formal celebration with all the fan fair items” on March 21.

“The NSCN-IM observed 41st Republic Day with mass prayer and hoisting of Naga national flag by Kedallo, NSCN/GPRN, Tongmeth Wangnao, at the Council Headquarters (CHq), Hebron,” stated a press release issued by MIP, NSCN (IM).

Meanwhile, stating that COVID-19 respects no national or state boundary, no social bounds, no political system and no cultural values, the MIP release informed that “the Health Ministry of GPRN is not taking any chance but is fully geared up to face the alarming situation.”

Besides other preventive measures like personal hygiene, every member in the NSCN (IM)’s Hebron Council Headquarters is being made to go through thermal screening and no visitors coming to the camp are allowed to pass without thermal screening at the gate, it said. “Nothing matters more than how we respond,” it added.
