NSCN (IM) Wancho region demands clarification on raid

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 12 (MExN): The Wancho Region of the NSCN (IM) has demanded clarification with regard to a recent raid carried out by police personnel at the residence of one Angom Wancho.

A press release from Khampai Wangsa, Region Secretary, Wancho Region, Khampai Wangsa informed that the raid was carried out on October 8, at 2:30pm “where two police personnel in civil dress accompanied by the colony Gaonbura raided Angom Wangsa’s house on the pretext to verify the owner of the residence.”

“The police personnel were only carrying his photograph and did not produce any search warrant. On questioning they said they were following orders from higher authority,” the press release stated. It informed that Wangsa and his wife were not present during the raid, “hence they left after interrogating their daughter.”

While talks are on with the Government of India to conclude the Indo-Naga political issue, the press release stated that such acts dilute the peaceful atmosphere. The Wancho Region of the NSCN (IM) demanded a clarification “behind the motive of this unlawful investigation and raid.”
