NSCN (K) abduct GBs; village elders intervene for release

Dimapur, June 8 (MExN): A group of armed cadres belonging to NSCN (K) came to Thenyizumi Village under Phek District on May 31 at 6 am and abducted two GB elder’s forcibly at gun point without any intimation to the village authorities.  When the matter came to light, the village elders went to Yorubami and intervened successfully to release the two GBs, Zasetuo Theyo aged 75 and Vechopra Resu aged 70. They requested the leaders of the NSCN (K) to respect the traditional practice of revering the elderly and resolving similar issues through peaceful dialogue 

A release issued by the Nagaland Peace Centre Kohima declared that GBs are government officials and their abduction/intimation etc is a violation of the Cease Fire Ground Rules as agreed upon between the Government of India and the NSCN as laid down in para (k) of the Cease Fire Ground Rules. Such incidents disturb public peace and should be prevented and the Cease Fire Ground Rules honored. 

If not, the said Cease Fire Ground Rules will only be illusory stated the release. In addition, the NSCN (K) being an organization which stands equal with the Government of India in the matter of the agreement on the Cease Fire Ground Rules, it is expected that the same is followed in letter and spirit stated a joint release issued by N Theyo, Chairman and P Inaho Sumi Executive Member Nagaland peace centre Kohima.
