DIMAPUR, AUGUST 31 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN Khaplang has stated that it had been an ardent advocate of peace and unity among various National political parties struggling for self-determination of the Nagas. “Consistent to our stand, the NSCN has on several occasions categorically stated that ‘peace and unity’ should precede political dialogue or solution with India”, stated a press note issued by the MIP.
Accordingly, it stated that the NSCN/GPRN leadership headed by SS. Khaplang “resolutely upholds and honors it’s commitment to FNR “COR” signed by SS. Khaplang himself along with his counterparts Isak Swu and Singya”. It stated that the “on-going Naga unification and reconciliation process could be translated into reality because of the positive responses of the Naga leaders to the constant mediation of the FNR”.
The NSCN Khaplang stated that the “FNR led by Rev. Dr. Wati Aier has in fact created history of its own distinction for having succeeded in bringing about complete cessation of hostilities, killings and bloodshed among Naga National workers”. It also placed on record the “commendable progress of peace process and positive changes of mindset amongst the conflicting Naga political leaders”. “The NSCN as an inalienable partner in the peace venture once again reaffirm its un-wavering attachment and active collaboration in any endeavor that intends to promote fraternity, peace and reconciliation”, the MIP note stated.
It also stated that it was “worth appreciating” the “latest efforts of Rev. Dr. Wati Aier led FNR in facilitating formation of Naga National Government through mutually agreed amalgamation of NNC/FGN, Khehoi Camp and IM as a result of hectic parleys”. It went on to state that “though NSCN/GPRN led by SS. Khaplang had not been invited on recent series of consultations and engagements”, it was their “sincere wishes that the efforts would definitely and ultimately replicate in peaceful results and positive outcomes”.
“The Khaplang led NSCN/GPRN being a party to ‘COR’ welcome the FNR’s creativity and wisdom in enabling the erstwhile conflicting groups to not only forgive and accept each other but also for paving way to constitute one National Government by combining the three groups”, the MIP note stated. Pointing out that the “peace process and political process being complementary”, it stated that it was “without doubt that both should go hand in hand” and that the “NSCN/GPRN therefore expects early solution on the issues being pursued or to be pursued by the Naga National Government”.
“We are also optimistic in our hopes and confident that whatever solution that may be hatched out with GOI would be to the benefits and acceptance of the Nagas at large”.
The NSCN/GPRN on its part stated that it “would consult the entire Nagas as and when we enter political process/dialogue with GOI” and that the “existing Indo-Naga ceasefire (GOI-NSCN) would continue as a necessity/prelude to enter into formal political dialogue with GOI”. “The inherent political rights, history and identity of the Nagas shall continue to be the cornerstone of the NSCN/GPRN’s revolutionary ethos”, the MIP stated.
It went on to state that the “faith and confidence that has been reposed on the NSCN/GPRN by the Nagas would continue to be the political road-map and political compass for any future endeavour”. “At this hour of high expectations of rich peace dividends, the NSCN/GPRN would appeal the Nagas to also be wary of subtle anti-Naga conspiracies getting entrenched through various shades and colors and perhaps in the garb of Bible preaching peace and reconciliation banners”.
