DIMAPUR, MARCH 13 (MExN): The Ministry of Forest & Environment, Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim has informed that as per resolutions nos. 1 & 2 of the Joint meeting of the Steering Executive Members and the Cabinet dated 6th March 2012, the following directives have been made known to all concerned for immediate execution. The directives are firstly for the protection of the ecosystem and secondly for Relocation of pollution commercial plants, informed a press note issued by Ct. Chamroy Secretary Ministry of Forest & Environment NSCN/GPRN.
Under the directives on protection of ecosystem, it was stated that as per the standing Azha, burning of jungle shall be banned. Perpetrator shall be fined with a sum of Rs. 20,000/- and 50% of the total amount exacted as fine shall be awarded to the village authority or any individual who reports the matter along with the identity of the perpetrator to the concerned authority. Failing to report, the village council authority/village authorities shall be held responsible and a fine of Rs.10,000/- only shall be imposed.
It was also informed that the use of chemicals including traditional extracts, explosives, inverter, and generator for killing/fishing in the river is banned. Further, hunting and capture of animals and birds within the period from January to June shall be banned. Also sellers and buyers of common animals, birds and reptiles shall be prohibited and fine shall be imposed as given: i) Sellers Rs—5000/- ii) buyers Rs—2000/-. Lastly, killing of Hornbill, Elephant and wild Bison shall be totally banned.
On the directive related to relocation of pollution commercial plants, it informed all concerned traders of stone crushers, sand stockists and other pollution commercial plants from main town/residential areas to relocate to a safer location as soon as possible. Dumping of waste materials in the river banks shall be prohibited. All concerned Municipal Councils, Town Councils, village councils and other social organizations may be consulted for further follow-up action.
