NSF reiterates commitment to pursue various issues

Kohima, June 7 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) today reiterated that “besides being deeply committed to ensure that all students’ welfare issues are effectively dealt with,” it would actively pursue Indo-Naga political issue, e-Governance, Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB), SSA & RMSA Teachers 2010 & 2013 Batches and also COVID-19 related issues

Indo-Naga political issue:

NSF, President, Kegwayhun Tep and General Secretary, Süpuni Ng Philo stated in a press release that it will stand committed to the Indo-Naga political issue and “leave no stones unturned to push forth for early settlement to the protracted Indo-Naga political issue vis-a-vis peace process.”

It made an appeal for peace and unity among the Nagas and also to all the Naga Political Groups (NPGs) and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to come together under one table for an early inclusive, honourable and acceptable solution to the issue.

Further, NSF also called upon the Government of India to expedite the process of Indo-Naga political dialogue with the negotiating parties and ink the final agreement to the protracted Indo-Naga political issue without delay.

e-Governance:

Stating that effective implementation of e-Governance is the need of the hour which will bring about ‘transparency’ in governance, NSF said that access to accurate and updated information in regard to various State Government’s functionaries, departments (including district administration) and agencies, such as schemes & programs, incumbency list, post creations & vacancies, progress report of the Department and vice versa, must be made readily available in the public domain in compliance with the laid down guidelines for departmental websites (GIGW).

This will enhance the level of citizen interaction through application of internet and mobile technologies and to ensure that the benefits are accessed by all citizens.

In regard, NSF advocated e-governance as a tool to bring ‘transparency’ as a powerful agent to check corruption in state governance.

COVID-19 related issues:

While acknowledging the hardships of the students’ fraternity and parents in general, it appealed to the educational institutions to waive off school fees owing to COVID-19 pandemic.

NSF appealed the Government of Nagaland not to shut down stationery shops and bookstores during the lockdown in order to readily make accessible the basic needs and requirements of the students’ community.

It also urged the State Government to maintain transparency in utilisation of COVID-19 funds.

Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB):

On NSSB, the Federation appealed the Government not to further delay the implementation and to make it fully functional owing to the rise in the number of educated unemployed youths in the state. State Government should revise and resolve the Reservation Policy in the state within the legally permissible jurisdiction without delay, it stated.

SSA & RMSA Teachers 2010 & 2013 Batches

Asserting that NSF stands committed to ensure that the agreement signed on October 18, 2020 pertaining to the rationalization of SSA & RMSA Teachers is materialised in letter and spirit, it will no longer tread lightly on the matter if the State Government does not honour the aforementioned agreement, it added.

Meanwhile, during its 1st official meeting, Public Grievances Redressel Cell and Media Cell were constituted. Also the Federation has expressed gratitude to Rev Dr Zelhou Keyho, General Secretary NBBC for invoking God’s blessing upon the officials at NSF Office, Kohima.
