NSSK training on newborn care and resuscitation underway at IMDH Mokokchung

Mokokchung, September 9 (MExN): A two-day training on Navjaat Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (NSSK) for healthcare workers commence at the Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH), Mokokchung on September 9.

The training aimed to equip health workers with skills in basic newborn care and resuscitation in order to reduce neonatal mortality, informed a press release. 

At the training, Dr Limanaro, District Programme Officer (Universal Immunisation Programme & Reproductive and Child Health) highlighted the purpose of the training and urged participants to remain attentive in order to acquire essential knowledge and skills for providing optimal neonatal care in health facilities.

Such initiatives, she said, would contribute to improving the health status of newborns.

Resource person Dr Imlisenba, Paediatrician, conducted sessions on various aspects of the NSSK programme.

The training covered preparedness of delivery and birth equipment, infection prevention, immediate action at birth and routine care, steps for positive pressure ventilation, neonatal resuscitation, observation and care for mother and child, breastfeeding, Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC), immunisation, as well as discharge and follow-up planning.
