Participants undertakes trek to “Peak of Hope” in Pfutsero during Word Tourism Day on September 27.
Kohima, September 29 (MExN): The Nagaland Tourism Association (NTA) in collaboration with Nagaland Association of Tour Operators (NATO) has celebrated World Tourism Day 2026 with a trek from “Peak of Hope” in Pfutsero to Kapamodzü in Phek District.
Around 50 members of the tourism fraternity took part in the event, sharing a day of walking, fellowship and appreciation for Nagaland’s natural landscapes.
The celebration began with a short devotional service at “Peak of Hope” Chapel.
Participants then climbed the 504 steps to Peak of Hope before setting out on the approximately 3.7-kilometre trail to Kapamodzü.
“Peak of Hope” provided a scenic starting point and an invigorating climb, while Kapamodzü offered a rewarding end to the walk.
Between them, the trail gave participants time to experience the landscape at a slower pace, with forested stretches, fresh mountain air and views along the way.
For NTA and NATO, the World Tourism Day event was an opportunity to experience the route together and draw attention to its tourism potential.
The event was sponsored by Tribal Odyssey, Abode Venture, Compass Tours, Pier Tours, Ara Travels, Explocal, India Trail, Explore Nagaland, Happy Feet Adventures and Otsi Ohan Restaurant.
The World Tourism Day trek was both a celebration of the people working in Nagaland’s tourism sector and an invitation to discover more of the state on foot, according to Kejaroko Pieru, president NATO.
