
DIMAPUR, AUGUST 31 (MExN): The National Vector Borne Disease Control Program (NVBDCP) State team led by Dr. Imkongtemsu Longchar, SPO & Joint Director, along with Dr. Tinurenla Anichari, Deputy Director, Kikolul Khieya, Assistant Director, UVDS, and other staff, undertook a three-day visit to Mon District for monitoring and supervision activities from August 27 to 29.
During the visit, the team reviewed the preparedness of the district health units and examined surveillance records (M-formats), stock registers, and Long-Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLIN) utilization. Field visits were carried out to selected health facilities and villages to assess active and passive surveillance, case reporting, and community awareness activities.
The team interacted with the Chief Medical Officer, Senior Medical Officers, Medical Officers, District Vector Borne Disease Officer, District Vector Borne Disease Consultant, ASHAs, and NVBDCP staff. Discussions focused on the importance of sustained fever testing, timely reporting, vector control, and community engagement for malaria elimination.
According to the NVBDCP, gaps and challenges were identified during the course of the monitoring, and necessary corrective measures were recommended to strengthen the district’s readiness for malaria elimination certification.
