Dimapur, March 21 (DIPR): A one day district level training on claims and objection of Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC) 2011 for master trainers, charge officers, officials of both rural and urban development for Dimapur was held at DC's conference hall on March 20.
Dr. Neha Wadhawan, Tribal Affairs Specialist SECC 2011 (MoRD, GoI) while interacting with the trainees said that the objective of her visit is to review the progress of Socio- Economic and caste Census (SECC) with the concerned officials of the Nagaland State Government and to discuss their problems and to extent logistic support for successful and timely completion of SECC.
She said the objective of the SECC is to record Socio-Economic status of all households, especially the poor households, to ensure better planning and proper implementation of centrally sponsored development schemes. She also said that India is a diverse country with various regional variation and specification so the SECC aims at capturing this data well, which can be used by the central as well as the state government.
While stating on the performance of Nagaland state on SECC, she said that despite logistical delays caused by the late arrival of TPC’s & DEO availability issues, Government of Nagaland has ensured that stage 1 & 11 of SECC is nearing for completion as of date. She said that preparations are underway for the draft list publication and claims and objections process to begin and further informed that for the first time a participatory mechanism has been designed to check the data collected and make corrections in the data after public review.
