Oting Killing: AKM determined to fight until justice is delivered

AKM team pays homage to the departed brothers of Oting incident in Mon.

Mokokchung, March 4 (MExN): In solidarity with the Oting incident, the Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) visited Mon district and met with the stakeholders on March 2. The team led by AKM President Nungdokyanger Ao met the Oting Village Council and paid homage to the late brothers, the fallen victims of December 4, 2021, in the hands of Indian Security Forces.

During an interaction with the Oting Village Council, the AKM announced a resolute statement that the “innocent blood soaked in the land is still fresh” and affirmed that “AKM will raise its voice until justice is delivered,” stated a press release received here.

Asserting to stand with the Konyak brothers and Naga as a whole in every issue, AKM said, “We are being treated like domesticated animals, slaughtering under the pretense of AFSPA. AKM is always vocal against the enforcement of AFSPA and will stand against the removal of AFSPA from our land until the end.” It urged “all Naga people to come forward for a common front to pressure the Government of India to remove AFSPA from our land.”

Meanwhile, the Oting Village Council expressed gratitude to various organizations, churches, civil societies and NGOs for visiting Oting in solidarity with them. “Through this incident, we have realized the Naga and various communities care for us. The act of sharing our sorrow by various communities both here and abroad was overwhelming.” They reaffirmed that, “the black flags we raise against the killing of innocent people will be pulled down only when justice is delivered.”

Later, in a meeting with Konyak Students’ Union (KSU), AKM expressed that the Oting incident reflects the very true inhuman treatment rendered by the Security force to the Naga people. “AKM believed that if India claims to be the largest democracy in the world, then they should remove the draconian Act (AFSPA) from the entire North East which is not relevant in this modern world,” they stated.

AKM and KSU further appealed to the Naga family to unite as one to fight against atrocity inflicted by the Indian security Force and repeal AFSPA.
