Peace Channel trains students on Conflict Analysis
College students after the training programme on Conflict Analysis and Conflict Handling Skills held in Wokha on December 10.
Wokha, December 10 (MExN): One-day training programme on Conflict Analysis and Conflict Handling Skills was held in Wokha for college student leaders on December 10 at Pangti Conference Hall.
Organized by Peace Channel, the resource person for the programme, Wochothung Ngullie talked of his experience in the present scenario of the society which was in need of peace in every social system.
“The search for peace has been a long struggle in human society and this quest has been the same since time immemorial,” he said.
The core problem and issues, Ngullie said was the attitude and perceptions of every individual in the society which stay out of control due to many different obstacles that an individual has to fulfill to satisfy the demands of life.
Ngullie in his session encouraged the students to take up the challenge of becoming an agent of peace in the society and wherever they go.
Peace is simple but considered as one of the most difficult job when it is put practically which only the most balanced and controlled person can achieve, the resource person added.
The programme focused on conflict analysis and styles of conflict handling skills. Making a note on the topic, Ngullie challenged the participants to visualize things in a different manner.
He further said the largest visible content of conflict dimensions and the multitudes of smaller conflicts emerged from different social behavior. Discussing on the different conflict handling styles, he focused on the most important ways of responding to conflict situation –accommodating, competing or forcing, avoiding, collaborating or cooperating and compromising.
The session was chaired by Vincent Kikon, District Coordinator of Peace Channel, while keynote address was given by Choponi Kinghen, retired officer, Forest department and Genevive invoked God’s blessing for the programme.
