Polling teams leave for polling stations from today

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nagaland, Abhijit Sinha, IAS today said that polling for the forthcoming Lok Sabha election and bye election in Nagaland will start from 7:00 am till 4: 00 pm on April 11, and majority of the polling parties will be leaving for their polling stations on April 10. 

Addressing a press conference here this evening at Hotel Japfü, he, however, said that polling personnel for 325 polling stations (P-2) will leave on April 9 because those polling stations are far from the district headquarters, and maximum of those polling stations are in Mon. 

172 locations identified ‘vulnerable’

Sinha said polling parties have been trained three times, and some last minute trainings will also be given to some polling personnel when they come to collect machines and materials from the dispatch centers in each of the twelve election districts.

He said that Poll will take place in 2227 polling stations across the state.

CEO said that 172 locations have been identified as vulnerable.

He said that CAPF will be deployed in all the vulnerable polling stations, and the security personnel will be moving out with the polling parties. 

On vehicle requisition for elections duty, CEO said the total requirement of vehicles stands at 5335.

He said that 704 vehicles are being provided from the surplus districts - Kohima and Dimapur to the deficit districts.
Further, 728 vehicles being taken from Assam to meet the shortfall.

“There is no issue of vehicle shortage,” he said.

6002 PwD voters

Meanwhile, the CEO informed that altogether, 6002 PwD voters are registered in the electoral roll.

In this regard, he said that wheel chairs have also been provided in more than 250 polling stations.

Inspection of register/accounts of candidates completed

Returning Officer and Commissioner M Patton, meanwhile, said that inspection of register of accounts of all the contesting candidates was done in RO office in presence of expenditure observer LP Singh. 

The first inspection was done on March 29, 2nd on April 4 and 3rd on April 8.

He said that discrepancies detected between Shadow Observation Register & Register of Accounts as furnished by the candidates, on the following; NDPP- meeting held at Jalukie town,  NDPP- meeting held at Zunheboto, INC- meeting held at Dimapur and INC- meeting held at Chozuba.

He said that necessary instructions were given to the concerned DC & ARO for necessary rectification.

He informed that scrutiny of Form 17 C shall be done at RO office on April 12 at 11:00 am in the presence of general observer.

He said that information has already been given to all the contesting candidates to observe the proceeding.
