Power disconnection drive in Wokha from February 14

Wokha, February 4 (MExN): With effect from February 14, the Wokha Electrical Division will begin a ‘raid and disconnection drive’ against power consumers who have not been paying electricity bills and those who have been found violating the Indian Electricity Act 2003.

Informing this in a press release on Friday, the Executive Engineer for Wokha Electrical Division Chonrothung Ezung informed that the drive would cover illegal activities such as hooking, looping, meter tampering/bypassing and other similar activities within its jurisdiction. Further, it is to be stated that sale/use of spring type coil heater and its elements is illegal and punishable under the Indian Electricity Act 2003, it added.

In this connection, the department has directed all the defaulting consumers to clear all pending arrears to avoid disconnection. The other consumers are requested to bear the inconvenience caused, it added.
