Pre-school enrollment in Tuensang increases

Dimapur, July 13 (MExN): A dissemination seminar on Annual Status Education Report (ASER) 2010 of Tuensang district was organised by the Confederation of Chang Students’ Union (CCSU) on July 9. CCSU, Assistant General Secretary Alfred Lempong in a press note stated that the ASER on Tuensang district was discussed among the NGOs of Tuensang and the report was presented by Honang M Jessuhu, Regional Member, North Eastern Region, ASER.
According to the ASER’s findings, the pre-school enrollment in Tuensang has increased since 2007 from 38% to 92% in 2009. There was a positive sign of ‘out of school children’. It was 7% in 2007 and has decreased to 1.4% in 2010. 25% of the children are enrolled in Private Schools  and 23% of children takes paid tuition in Tuensang as per 2010 ASER’s Findings. Children Aged 3 years, who are enrolled in Anganwadi/KG, has decreased from 37.5% in 2006 to 27.5% in 2010, which indicates the deteriorating condition of the working of Anganwadi in the District.
It may be mentioned that the ASER’s survey is done by the participation of local people, facilitated by the PRATHAM. It was established in 2005 and since its inception; it is doing the survey of all the children age between 3-16 years in rural area of India.
