Appeals for committed stand
Dimapur, August 9 (MExN): The Nagaland Gaon Bura Federation (NGBF) has expressed dissent at the reported ‘propaganda and campaign’ by a section of people to change the Interlocutor of the Government of India (GoI).
Stating that it is neither in the interest of the people nor towards lasting solution to the protracted Naga political issue, the Federation asserted that “The question of who would be the interlocutor of India is the prerogative of the GoI and it should not come in the way of solution.”
Meanwhile the NGBF appealed to all the negotiators in the Indo-Naga peace talks to “stand committed to the historical process which is in a deciding moment.”
It stated that the Nagas have been reeling under a situation of uncertainties in absence of real peace for decades and are “desperate to have peace in our land.”
The NGBF said the peace is expected to arrive out of political negotiations going on between the Working Committee of NNPGs and the NSCN (IM) with the Government of India (GoI) for more than two decades.
“We appreciate the smooth and progressive talk that has reached the last leg of formal negotiations on 31st of October, 2019 and had committed to ink the inclusive agreement,” the NGBF said.
Meanwhile, it pointed out that “a section of people” with agenda to have “endless negotiations to remain in their comfort zone and continue to exploit the people,” and said that “this agenda of playing double standard role of negotiation without any commitment for solution is self destructive.”
In this regard, the Federation has appealed for a committed stand from all the negotiators and “deliver the long awaited solution to the people.”
