Maligaon, March 13 (MExN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) on March 9 and 10 raided six shops/agencies in different locations to check illegal sale of railway tickets. During the raids, 65 railway tickets worth more than Rs 90,000 were recovered and six persons were prosecuted under Section 143 of the Railways Act.
In an incident on March 10, a team of RPF/CIB/Rangiya conducted a raid at ‘Govindo Cyber Net’ located at Nabadwipe market, Bongaigaon. Six railway e-tickets worth more than Rs 5000 along with two computers and a mobile phone with SIM card were recovered. The owner of the shop was apprehended.
On the same day, RPF team of Badarpur conducted a search operation at ‘Anika Travels’ located near New ST Road, Badarpur. The team recovered 17 numbers of railway e-tickets worth around Rs 33000 along with a computer set and a mobile phone. The owner of the shop was also taken into custody.
In another incident, a decoy check was conducted by a RPF team of Dharmanagar at ‘Kairi Brother Xerox’ located at Lowairpoa Bazaar, Karimganj with the help of local police. The team recovered 17 railway e-tickets worth more than Rs 27,000 along with a laptop and a mobile phone with SIM card. In this connection, one person was also apprehended.
On March 10, RPF team of Dimapur conducted ‘Dhansiri Online Services and Technology’ located at Chungajan area and recovered 7 used railway e-tickets worth more than Rs 2000 along with a mobile phone. The owner of the shop was apprehended. The RPF team of Chaparmukh searched a travel agency ‘NK Travels’ located at Juria Bazar, Nagaon and apprehended the owner of the agency. The RPF recovered 12 railway PRS tickets worth more than Rs 14000, 26 filled-up and 59 blank railway reservation forms and a mobile phone with one Voter ID card.
In a similar incident, team of RPF and GRP of Dibrugarh conducted an anti-touting activity drive at Naliapool area, Dibrugarh on March 9. The ‘Shanti Communication’ was raided and 06 e-tickets worth more than Rs 8000 along with a computer set and other accessories were recovered. The owner of the shop was taken into custody.
