Ralan farmers educated on pest control measures

Dimapur, June 15 (MExN): The Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Ralan Block under Wokha district conducted a series of training and demonstrations on May 26 at Old Ralan, Wokha, to equip farmers with the know-how of pest control measures on Fall Army worm in maize fields plaguing the region.


The resource persons were Soyingbeni Tsanglao, ATM, and Z Nchumthung Shitirie, ATM who demonstrated organic methods of pest control like neem oil application as well as preparation of homemade neem oil, to the farmers. The farmers were cautioned to strictly adhere to the instructions while making the mixtures as it may result in more harm than benefit. The farmers were also advised to spray the mixture during the morning hours or early evening.


Furthermore the benefits and uses of neem oil regarding its organic nature, its efficacy in controlling various pests without posing any threats to beneficial insects in the fields were also discussed with farmers.
