Department sets up MIS cell 

 

DIMAPUR, MAY 15 (MExN): The Nagaland Rural Development Department set up a Management Information System (MIS) Cell at the MGNREGA building, Directorate of Rural Development, Kohima on May 15.


Minister for Rural Development, Metsubo Jamir while inaugurating the cell asked all officers to work together and do their part to aid the State’s ailing economy due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 


He stated that due to the two months lockdown, the pressure on Nagaland’s economy has been drastically hit. 
He meanwhile said that the State MIS Cell will help equip with information on roles and activities during the COVID-19 pandemic and to avoid gatherings. 


 “We cannot afford to call many people for meetings and trainings during this pandemic and even in the coming years, the video conferencing facilities will play a crucial role in providing online trainings and meetings and go a long way in helping us with all our activities,” the Minister stated.


Encouraging the officers to be digitally equipped, he asked them to regularly visit the RD website and check the notifications. 


A performance review meeting of Project Directors was also held at RD Directorate Conference Hall, Kohima under the chairmanship of Neposo Theluo, Commissioner and Secretary, RD. 


Theluo highlighted the achievements, drawbacks and action needed on various programmes implemented by the department.


During the meeting, several issues were discussed including the permormances of the RD Programmes with main focus on COVID-19 related matters. 


Briefing the Officers on COVID- related matters, the Commisioner & Secretary stated that under MGNREGS, priority should be given to irrigation, water conservation and water harvesting works. 


He also emphasized on giving importance to individual beneficiary-oriented works for livelihood issues. On setting up of quarantine centres, he stated that 50% of GIA has been sanctioned.
