Dimapur, March 13 (MExN): The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) issued a seven-day deadline to all public and private companies to untangle and organise overhead wires within its jurisdiction.
A directive issued by DMC’s Chief Executive Officer, Thungchanbemo Tungoe, accordingly, instructed electric distribution companies, telecom service providers, internet service providers (ISPs), and cable TV operators to remove unused and abandoned wires and ensure all cables are properly secured.
It highlighted that tangled and unregulated wires, particularly along the Road Over Bridge (Flyover) from Deluxe Point to Tourist Lodge observed during a cleanliness and beautification drive by the Beautification Branch of DMC.
Such tangled and unregulated wires not only pose a serious safety hazard but also significantly affect the visual appeal of the city, it added.
Citing the Nagaland Municipal Act, 2023, the DMC has given a seven-day deadline for the companies to comply, cautioning that failure to do so will result in legal action.
