RMSA 2016 batch teachers not paid for six months

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 30 (MExN): The RMSA teachers of 2016 batch today stated that they have not received salaries for 6 months and called upon the State Government to release their dues.

A press release from Imlitemjen, President of the RMSA Teachers Association 2016 batch, said that the COVID-19 pandemic has “perturbed our collective psyche and our lives have been on herky-jerky ride ever since we woke up to year 2020.”

“Teachers across the country including Nagaland are facing daunting challenges in disseminating the syllabus whether it is through online or offline mode. Only to add more worry to the already catastrophic circumstances, an overwhelmingly sizeable section of RMSA (2016 batch) teachers are posted in remote locations without salary for almost 6 months now,” the association stated.

It added that as the academic year near its conclusion, teachers have “tried their best to ensure that learning has been fruitful and meaningful for each and every student throughout.” The association said that despite the numerous challenges, “teachers have risen to the occasion and have come up with various alternatives even for the remotest parts of our region.”

It however questioned when the government will pay the remaining six month’s salary due to the teachers.  “Is the year going to end without us getting paid our rightful dues? How does the government think we have been surviving without a penny for the last six months not forgetting the mental stress and the fear of the ongoing pandemic?” the association questioned.
