Dimapur, August 27 (MExN): The Nagaland RMSA Teachers’ Association (NRMSATA) 2016 batch has expressed strong disapproval of the Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland’s recent appeal for teachers to “have patience” and await the outcome of a review petition filed before the Supreme Court on August 14, 2025.
In a statement issued today, the teachers said they had already shown “extraordinary patience,” having waited over nine years for the government to extend the legally due service benefits.
The association highlighted that the Hon’ble Gauhati High Court, through its Division Bench judgment dated March 16, 2022, ruled in their favour, a verdict subsequently upheld by the Supreme Court, directing the government to release scale pay immediately.
Despite this, the authorities have not complied, and salaries have not been paid since April 2025, causing severe financial hardship for many teachers.
The teachers accused the government of using the review petition as a tactic to delay justice rather than resolve the matter.
They clarified that no official notice regarding the review petition had been received, nor had any stay order been issued by the Gauhati High Court or the Supreme Court, making the earlier judgment valid, operative, and binding.
The association stressed that their demands are not privileges but lawful entitlements already upheld by the courts, including ROP 2017 pay scale with annual increments, recognition of service from 2016, and parity with the 2010–13 batch.
They cautioned that the continued denial of these rights has compelled them to adopt democratic forms of agitation.
Rejecting the Mission Director’s statement as “misleading and insensitive,” the teachers said that any disruption of academic activities resulting from their protest would be the responsibility of the State Government, not the aggrieved teachers.
