Dimapur, September 30 (MExN): In marking the 100th year anniversary of the Salesian order in the Northeast region, the Salesian Province of Dimapur honoured 11 Jubilarians at Fr Bernick Memorial Hall, Salesian College, Dimapur on September 29 in the presences of priests, sisters, brothers, students and well-wishers.

According to Fr Jaojian Daniel Gangmei, the day was marked with welcoming the Jubilarians and the congregation, followed by the Holy Eucharist, presided over by Fr Paulinus Chempalayil and other jubilarians. In his address, Fr Kapani Deli David said, “In carrying out the pastoral ministry, priests are called to prolong the presence of Christ, the One High Priest, embodying His way of life and making them visible in the midst of the flock entrusted to their care.”

The jubilarians were Fr Matthew Pulingathil (97 years old; 60 years as Priest), Fr Paulinus Chempalayil and Fr Joseph Kulathunkal (60 years as Salesians), Fr Sebastian Thazhekedan (50 years as Priest), Fr Sebastian Aelavanthara, Fr Jose Chemparathy and Fr Tony Pallessery (50 years as Salesians), Fr Devassy Pallaty (25 years as Priest), Fr Ashuli Lunuo Linus, Fr Karamullil Jose George and Fr Paul Panii (25 years as Salesians).

Fr Daniel further mentioned that messages were shared by the jubilarians. Fr Matthew Pulingathil (oldest priest in the province) noted, “If you love your vocation, then you will find it easy at every situation to face them. Pray that you persevere and live up to the renunciation you have promised and proclaimed through your vows.”

Fr Jose Kuruvachira (Provincial) in his congratulatory note expressed his gratitude to the jubilarians and acclaimed them for their services in the province. “Jubilee is the celebration of the providential care and an expression of gratitude. It is a celebration of God’s grace and faithfulness. We appreciate your commitment and dedication in God’s service in these years.”
