SASU worried for student’s welfare

Dimapur, June 25 (MExN): The Seyochung Area Students’ Union (SASU) expressed shock on the condition of Government High School, Seyochung which is functioning with no headmaster or Assistant headmaster for the past 4-5 years. Besides, the school has only three graduate teacher and the computers issued for the students are not put into use as there is no instructor.
SASU Vice President, Lipise Sangtam and USSC Education & Statistic Secretary, T. Ripise in a joint press statement highlighted that Seyochung Town is one of the oldest SDO (c) HQ under Kiphire district and located at the most remotest part of the State has been “dispossessed socially, economically and politically for many years.” The statement added that the ill-treatment meted on this backward area is too much to bear especially in the educational sector. The only GHS is being kept neglected with shortage of teachers and even the school building is on the verge of collapse making the students victims.
SASU also questions as to why GHS Seyochung result was nil and St Mary’s School Seyochung secured cent percent in the recent HSLC examination? It clearly indicates the poor performance of the students due to poor school administration and shortage of teachers at GHS Seyochung. The hue and cry for want of good school administration and teachers for many years has left deaf ear by the concern department.
Therefore, the SASU for the welfare of the student community once again appealed to concern authority to immediately appoint headmaster and at least three (3) more graduate teachers for GHS Seyochung. “To mould up our students in the right direction is a collective responsible and we look forward for your kind acknowledgement and urgent attention in this regard,” the statement further added.
