The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has handed away its ticket for the upcoming bye-poll to 58-Shamator-Chessore Assembly Constituency to the United Democratic Alliance’s consensus candidate S Keoshu Yimchunger. Keoshu received the ticket from NDPP President, Chingwang Konyak at an official programme organised at the NDPP headquarters in Dimapur on October 7.

State BJP Vice President, Hurui Zeliang and Senior Vice President, NPF Pusazo Luruo, were the other UDA leaders present.

NDPP President, Chingwang Konyak, handing over the ticket to Keoshu, expressed confidence that the UDA candidate would emerge unopposed like the erstwhile PDA candidate did in the recent 51 Noksen AC bye-election.

BJP VP, Hurui Zeliang assured the support of the BJP to Keoshu, while stating that the partnership at the bye-poll would further strengthen the UDA.

NPF Senior Vice President, Pusazo Luruo appealed the electorate of the constituency to support the unanimous candidate.

Meanwhile, Keoshu described the opportunity to contest as the result of his loyalty to the NDPP since its inception. “The confidence that the NDPP party has shown towards me by bestowing me with the party ticket has humbled me and has further motivated me... NDPP values those people who are loyal to the party,” he said.

The last date of nomination to the bye-election, as announced by the Election Commission of India, is October 8.
