Kohima, September 26 (MExN): Security forces in a joint operation with state police arrested 7 people and seized illegal areca nuts worth around Rs 1.58 crore at general area of Paramedical Colony, Kohima on September 25, an official release said.
The joint operation based on a “specific input” resulted in seizure of three trucks and 264 ton of areca nuts, in 330 bags of 80 kg each worth approximately Rs 1.58 crore, stated the release from the PRO, HQ IGAR (N). Each truck was carrying 110 bags.
The individuals along with recovered items were handed over to Customs Department Kohima, for further investigation, it added.
