Seeds of Innocens IVF organised an awareness programme titled “The New Beginning of Parenthood” at Hotel Saramati on May 29 with the aim of spreading awareness about infertility treatment and improving access to IVF services in Nagaland and the Northeast.

The programme was attended by Dr Julie Chhawchharia, Clinical Head and IVF Specialist, Seeds of Innocens; Dr Sonika Bawari, IVF Consultant, Seeds of Innocens; Yashpal Singh Rao, Chief Growth Officer, Seeds of Innocens and Home IVF; and Dr Emmanuel from Dr Belho’s Clinic and Children’s Hospital, Dimapur.

Speaking at the event, Rao said that Seeds of Innocens has expanded to more than 35 centres across India and has helped deliver over 20,000 babies through IVF treatment.

He stated that the organisation is the first IVF chain in India with an in-house genetic testing laboratory aimed at ensuring healthy and genetically screened pregnancies.

Rao said one of the major challenges faced by couples seeking infertility treatment is accessibility, particularly in remote regions. To address the issue, the organisation has started conducting peripheral outreach camps where doctors visit areas like Dimapur once or twice every month to provide consultations, counselling and guidance to patients.

He informed that most preliminary procedures, including consultations, blood tests and check-ups, can now be conducted locally in Dimapur, while patients only need to travel to the organisation’s main centre in Guwahati for a few visits during the treatment process.

Rao also highlighted the organisation’s “Home IVF” initiative, under which patients can consult doctors through video calls while nurses visit homes for sample collection and administration of injections, thereby reducing the need for frequent travel.

Speaking on infertility issues, Dr Shruti said the major causes of difficulty in conceiving among the present generation include late marriages, lifestyle-related factors, PCOS and other medical conditions.

She emphasised that infertility is a treatable medical condition and encouraged couples to seek timely medical intervention.

The speakers stressed that infertility should not be treated as a taboo and reiterated their commitment to making fertility treatment more accessible and convenient for people across Nagaland and the Northeast.

The event was attended by medical professionals and families who had successfully undergone treatment through the centre.
