Seminar on ‘SDG Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions’ in Kohima

Kohima, November 17 (MExN): The National Foundation for India (NFI) in collaboration with ARK Foundation and NYO (Nagabazar Youth Organisation) organised a seminar on ‘SDG Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions’ on November 15 with the youths of Nagabazar at Rongmei Community Hall, Nagabazar, Kohima. A total of 30 youth of Nagabazar attended the seminar.

The objective of the seminar was to create awareness among the youth on how to promote peace and generate an inclusive society for sustainable development, informed a press release from Vekulu Demo, District Field Coordinator, NFI Kohima.

Speaking on the occasion, resource person, Dr Viketoulie Pienyü stated that prevailing social issues such as violence against women and child, corruption, injustice, economic inequality, substance/drug abuse, global warming, etc needs to be tackle upon to have sustainable future.

All these kind of scenario leads to conflict which later leads to social disparity resulting the rightful person’s violation of availing the right opportunity and facility, said the Senior Medical Officer, State Mental Health Institute.

He further noted that as the youths are the future leader of the society, they stay away from illegal drug use, bribery, and to encourage one another as a collective response building a better Nagaland. 

Dr Pienyü also suggested that the youth organizations should cooperate and work together in order to bring peace, justice and strong institutions in the society. 

Without peace, justice and strong governance, one cannot hope for a sustainable development, he added. 

Earlier, the District Field Coordinator, Demo gave an overview of the project initiated by NFI towards SDG Goal 16 since July 2021 in Nagaland. In Kohima, it is being hosted by hosted by ARK Foundation. 

The overall objective is to empower the youths on the importance of peace, justice and strong institutions, and how to resolve conflicts among various and numerous social groups, she said.
