Seminar to enhance tourism potential held in Khonoma village

Kohima, March 18 (MExN): A one-day seminar aimed to enhance tourism potential and provide career development opportunities for the local youth was held at the Community Hall, Khonoma Village. It was organised in collaboration with Village Adoption Committee (VA) 8th Western Angami AC under the Office of Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Sechu-Zubza, Kohima; Kohima Science College, Jotsoma; and YouthNet.

A press release from Media Cell, YouthNet stated that the seminar was structured into two sessions, each addressing crucial aspects of capacity building and career guidance.

The inaugural session focused on career counseling, featured presentations by Francis Kikon and Tokatoli Achumi, Assistant Professors from Department of Geology at Kohima Science College. Moderated by Seyiekhrielie Whiso, Associate Professor, Department of English, Kohima Science College, the session fostered interactive discussions, enriching participants with practical knowledge and skill sets essential for excelling in the field. 

The second session delved into capacity building for tourist guides. Kejaroko Pier shared expertise and strategies aimed at nurturing a skilled workforce in the tourism sector. Adding a layer of depth to the discussion, Razouvikhol Luho, Nodal Officer of YouthNet, provided insights into entrepreneurship and the burgeoning private sectors in Nagaland. 

As a token of solidarity and support, the Village Adoption Committee (VAC) presented a state-of-the-art PA system to the Khonoma Village Council, enhancing community connectivity and communication. Additionally, stationery items were distributed to students of Class 10 from various local schools, including Christian Welfare School, St John Bosco School, and Government High School, Khonoma.
