Silver jubilee of Alumni Association St Joseph’s College on Nov 18

Kohima, November 16 (MExN): The Jubilee Organising committee has been making massive preparation for the silver jubilee celebration of Alumni Association St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous) Jakhama, scheduled for November 18 with the theme – ‘Igniting Oneness’.

The formal session would be held at Indoor Stadium at 10.00am with Thejawelie Gregory, Commissioner of State Taxes, Govt. of Nagaland (1985, Alumni) as guest speaker and another three (3) great personalities namely Principal, St. Joseph’s College (A) Jakhama Dr. Fr. George Keduolhou Angami, First Alumni Association president Kezhokhoto Savi (senior law teacher & social activist) & Most Rev. Dr. James Thopil Bishop of Kohima, Chairman, SJC (A) Jakhama would address more than 5000 gathering 5000 i.e consisting of more than 4000 present students and Alumni with families.

Rev. Puthavil Neikha (1987, Alumni) would say invocation, presidential address by I Yanger Imchen, special number (male voice) by alumni, jubilee tribute to be led by Meyiesul Chaya (2004, Alumni) Vice-President Alumni Assn and vote of thanks by Kiviboto Sheqi Convenor Jubilee Organising Committee(2011, Alumni).

The session would be chaired by Natalia Rhutso (2020, Alumni) and prelude by Qhekato Shohe & Sedevinuo Yhome.
The President of Alumni Association St. Joseph’s College has invited every Alumni to attend the alumni historical function with families.

He has also requested the organisers to reach St. Joseph’s College latest by 9.00 AM on November 18.

The first Batch of St. Joseph’s College Jakhama (1985) and also first Alumni Association President Advocate Kezhokhoto Savi convey that the college has started with the first batch of 1985 both PU Arts & Commerce and later on became Autonomous with several departments including Post Graduate courses. However, the first batch were in Loyola School Jakhama (now Loyola Higher Secondary) in the year 1985 and shifted to the present campus the next year with another batch (1986) but there was a gap of one year to continue graduation course so the first batch has to join elsewhere for graduation and the Alumni Association was established in 1997 as all the first batch of office bearers were already into different working places.

Savi informed that today St. Joseph’s College Jakhama has become one of the largest college in North East India and beyond.
