Six tribes to ‘abstain’ from Naga Council

Dimapur, August 6 (MExN): Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Union of Dimapur representing six tribes today decided to “abstain from Naga Council normal activities.” A note from the union’s executives has requested “not to use” the six tribes Chang, Khiamniungan, Konyak, Phom, Sangtam and Yimchunger, in the 19 tribes that form the Naga Council. The note did not ascribe any reason why the six communities were ‘abstaining from Naga Council normal activities.’
