Kohima, March 25 (MExN): A two day long ‘skill development training on advance baking’ was conducted at Phek town on March 23 to 24 last under the aegis of District Administration and DLCW-MSK (BBBP), Phek under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.

Phek Deputy Commissioner Razouvolie Dozo said that the objective of the training is to empower women folks in rural areas and to help them to be economically self sufficient. He also added that skill development is important to generate financial stability which will help women to live a dignified life. He urged the participants to be sincere and hardworking and make the best use of baking skills acquired during the training.

Wetsho Lasushe, EAC Phek asserted that the district administration in Phek is committed to empower women through implementation of BBBP scheme and beyond. He hoped that through such upskilling programs, entrepreneurial avenues will open up for participants and empower them economically.

Resource person Vekutholu Vero, owner of Hetika Kitchen Cafe said that she was quite encouraged to see the district administration and officials working diligently to uplift women and also providing free equipment to kickstart their baking journey. Altogether, 18 women from Phek district joined the training programme.
