Meluri, July 7 (MExN): The apex tribal bodies of the Sümi and Pochury communities on Tuesday reaffirmed their long-standing bond of friendship and mutual respect, adopting a joint resolution to strengthen cooperation and preserve cordial relations between the two neighbouring tribes.
The resolution was adopted during a joint meeting between the Sümi Hoho and the Pochury Hoho at the Pochury Hoho Office in Meluri, held as part of a goodwill visit by the Sümi Hoho on July 7.
According to a press release, leaders of the two organisations deliberated on issues of mutual interest and ways to further strengthen the historic relationship between the two communities.
Both Hohos underscored the importance of preserving peace, fostering mutual understanding and addressing common concerns through dialogue and cooperation. They also reaffirmed their shared commitment to promoting unity, peaceful coexistence and the collective welfare of both communities.
In the joint resolution, the two apex bodies unanimously affirmed that the Sümi and Pochury tribes have lived together in peace, harmony and mutual respect since time immemorial. Recognising this enduring relationship, they pledged to preserve and strengthen the spirit of friendship, understanding and cooperation for the welfare of their people and in the greater interest of the Naga family.
The resolution further reaffirmed the commitment of both organisations to continue working together to maintain cordial relations and resolve issues through mutual consultation and understanding.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing confidence that regular engagement and closer collaboration would further reinforce the historic ties between the Sümi and Pochury communities and contribute to lasting peace and unity among the Nagas.
