‘Society will not progress without unity’

Advisor for CAWD & NSDMA, Kazheto Kinimi said that the society will not progress without unity. 

He said this while welcoming Akuluto-VK Area Union Kohima during the Ahuna Festival celebration at his official residence as Ahuna Papu (Ahuna father) on November 14. 

Urging the area people to remain united, he said love and respect among one another keep bonds stronger to move ahead for a better future.

 Former President of Akuluto-VK Area Union Kohima, V Khekiye Kiba said that Ahuna is a traditional post harvest Festival signifying the celebration of one's successful season harvest in thanksgiving, while invoking the spirits for the good fortune and bountiful harvest in the new year. 

He shared that Ahuna is not only to feast the first meal of rice drawn from the season's harvest that was cooked in a bamboo segments but it was an occasion when one asks for forgiveness and reconcile with one another, especially with uncles and aunties if there was any dispute or differences. 

He also lamented that along with the fast changing world, traditional and cultural values are at the verge of extinction and said that it is the duty of younger generations to preserve the traditional values and practices of our forefathers in sincerity and with reverence.

 Principal Director, Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Vikato Kinimi encouraged youths to be more sincere and dedicated in their studies so as to achieve one's goal. The festival here was celebrated with folksong, special songs and Ahuna feast.
