Sovima Village Council resolves to check illegal and immoral activities

Sovima, July 27 (MExN): In view of increasing reports of illegal and immoral activities indulged by ‘a few in the jurisdiction of the village whereby the name of the village is being tarnished,’ the Sovima Village Council (SVC), Chümoukedima has made several resolutions. 

A press release issued by the SVC, Secretary Ruokuosile Rupreo stated that any house/property in which any person is found selling psychotropic drugs shall be seized/taken possession of by the Council and the land registration cancelled forthwith. ‘Such properties shall be disposed off by the Council in whichever manner it deems fit. Drugs peddlers shall be fined and expelled from the village,’ it stated. 

Any person found selling IMFL in the village shall be fined and expelled from the village, and their household possessions seized by the Council, it resolved. 

“It shall be the responsibility of house/ property owners to monitor activities of their tenants, and are directed to furnish full details of the tenants such as photos, mobile numbers, copies of Aadhaar/ EPIC documents to the Council within one month,” SVC informed.

It also resolved that youth volunteers with proper ID Cards shall patrol the jurisdiction of the village at night to prevent empty/vacant spaces being used for immoral activities.

Further,  it resolved to issue trade license to all business establishments within the village by the Council “to ensure protection of traders from illegal taxations as well as to protect the rights of consumers.”
