Kohima, February 23 (MExN): A two-day long 3rd Erudite (Post Graduate) festival of St. Joseph’s College (A) Jakhama with the theme “Envision, Exert, and Excel,” commenced today at the College Indoor Stadium.
Yirmiyan Arthur Yhome, Deputy Director for Photography and storytelling at Asia Pacific Associated Press graced the occasion as the chief guest. In her speech, she shared her 20 years of experience in the field and emphasized the importance of zeal and cultural identity. She encouraged students to believe in themselves and seek meaningful connections.
Sivasish Biswas, the Pro-Vice Chancellor of Assam University, Diphu Campus, delivered keynote address and spoke about his positive experiences as a professor at St. Joseph’s College and his interactions with Naga students at Assam University.
In welcome address, Fr Dr Keduolhou Angami, Principal, St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama, emphasized that the festival is primarily organized for postgraduate students to cultivate their academic interests.
He highlighted the role of extracurricular activities in shaping students' character and enhancing their educational journey.
Organising committee convenor Jipsing Taro mentioned that Erudite Fest is an annual fest of the Post Graduates in St. Joseph's College.
He said it was first introduced in the year 2022 to give a platform for the PG students to inculcate healthy competition in academics and develop their skills needed to be an active and efficient educated person in society. This platform provides the students of every department in the PG section to compete in various competitions and activities which are carefully and thoughtfully planned to bring the best out of the students.
The event gives students of various talents and capabilities to shine as they plan, organise and compete in the event. It also showcases the web of academic beauty as it gives the opportunity of varied departments with their respective specialisation to come together, express, share and learn from one another.
Later, the programme was followed by various activities including debate.
