State Govt will bear expenses for returnees, CS tells NPCC

KOHIMA, May 12 (MExN): Chief Secretary Temjen Toy today responded to the NPCC’s offer to pay for the cost of rail tickets of stranded Nagaland citizens wanting to return to the state and said that the State Government would be bearing the expenses.


In a letter addressed to Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) President, K Therie, the Chief Secretary said that a decision to this effect was taken during a State Cabinet meeting on May 4. 


“The State Government had also taken the decision to bear the railway charges of the journeys from the rest of the country and also within the state. In order to implement this massive exercise in a successful manner, the Empowered Committed on COVID-19 headed by the Additional Chief Secretary has formulated a detailed action plan,” the Chief Secretary stated.


Meanwhile, the Chief Secretary acknowledged the support and cooperation stating that it has been “one of the most positive aspects of the battle against the pandemic.” He also stated that all details of the Government’s initiatives can be obtained from the COVID-19 dashboard and welcomed suggestions.
