Nagaland Parliamentary Affairs and Power Minister KG Kenye today called upon the young generation to be more responsible in their outlook and way of life.

“The Republic of India is a democratic Nation. Ever since the birth of Independence in 1947, the visionary leaders and the pioneers of this nation opted for a democratic system,” he said while gracing the State Level Parliamentary Quiz Competition at ATI Hall, Kohima.

He said that the parliamentary democracy itself is something very special in practice, adding, “As every generation grow up to be responsible citizen of the nation and to be a member of international community, having being born and brought up from democratic county, it is expected of you-the new generation to be more responsible in your outlook and your way of life.”

“This can happen only if you grow up in such an environment where you are properly guided and you are acquainted with the principle of democracy and you practice it from very young age,” he said.

It should become part of your habit and character, Kenye said adding “It is expected of you that you will always practice the parliamentary democracy even in your own private life.” Stating that the ancestors practice the purest form of democracy, he said “we just have to hold it, refine it and adjust to the modern concept.” The world still has not found a better option to the practice of parliamentary democracy, Kenye said.

Meanwhile, Dimapur district bagged the first position in the competition while Peren and Chümoukedima district stood 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
