APO appeals for strict lockdown implementation
Kohima, May 14 (MExN): The Angami Public Organisation (APO) on Friday welcomed the government’s decision to impose total lockdown throughout the State.
It termed the decision for seven-day lockdown from May 14 as “timely, appropriate and unavoidable,” in order to halt the unprecedented surge of the virus.
With the alarming rise in COVID-19 cases across the State, the APO issued a clarion call to every citizen in general and to Angami villages/towns and its people in particular to strictly adhere to the call of total lockdown and follow SOPs for everyone’s safety.
The APO also urged the State government to strictly impose its decree unlike the previous lockdown which it said, had a lot of “loopholes and faced criticisms.”
The Organisation further called on the government to provide all necessary equipment and arrangements for the COVID-19 patients and frontline workers.
It extended appreciation to individuals, private firms, the community and private hospitals for their contribution towards the care of COVID-19 patients. “This is high time we all wake up and seriously tackle the issues together to stop further surge,” the APO asserted.
The best solution at hand is to stay indoors and break the chain of community transmission, the APO stated while reiterating its full support and cooperation to total lockdown called by the State government.
