Students showcase entrepreneurship, innovation at 16th Convergence Festival

JAKHAMA, SEPTEMBER 20 (MExN): The Department of Business Administration, St Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama, successfully organized the 16th edition of its annual management fest on September 19, under the theme “Converging Creativity and Strategy.” Toinali Chophi, Founder & CEO of Beauty Barn India, was the guest speaker.

The one-day event brought together nearly 500 participants, including students and faculty from St Joseph’s College and other institutions across Nagaland such as Sazolie College, Tetso College, St. Joseph’s University, and ICFAI University, Chümoukedima, providing a vibrant platform for academic exchange, entrepreneurship, and creativity.

The inaugural programme began with an invocation by Dr. Fr. Peter Solo, Dean of Science, followed by a welcome address from Imtipong Longkumer, Director of the Business Administration Department. Ethoi S., convenor of the fest, introduced the event.

In her address, Chophi shared her life journey and urged students to take responsibility for their actions, embrace innovation, adaptability, and resilience. She also engaged participants with interactive sessions, giving away Beauty Barn products to those who answered her questions correctly.

The 16th Convergence Fest featured competitions including Business Plan Presentation, MAD Ads, CEO Challenge, and Business Quiz on stage, alongside off-stage contests such as Photography, Art, Mock Interview, and Investment Simulation.

For the first time, a Business Expo was held, where 12 student and local entrepreneurs showcased their products. Tetso College won the first Business Expo Competition, BMS Kids Craft was runner-up, and a.collection received the People’s Choice Award.

A panel discussion on “Disrupt Nagaland: Building Unconventional Businesses for the New Generation” was conducted at the PG Conference Hall, with panellists Lichan Humtsoe, Founder & CEO, Été Coffee, and Nuneseno Chase, Director, YouthNet, moderated by Imtipong Longkumer.

The fest also featured performances by guest artists Koko Savino (singer-songwriter) and Anonymous Jamir, alongside student performances by Khrieketounuo Rio and the SJC Dance Club.
Sazolie College, Kohima, received the Best Discipline Award, while the Overall Champion Trophy was awarded to the Department of Commerce, St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Akuh, co-convenor of the fest.
