The activities of Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) from April 1, 2020 to January 22, 2021 have been highlighted in the annual administrative report (2020-2021) of the Youth Resources & Sports department.
The report was tabled at the 7th session of 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) on February 15 last.
During April till August 31, 2020, TaFMA has conducted TaFMA Stay Home Gigs, Nagaland United “Stand by Me,” Virtual Art Exhibition (62 artists), “Heal the World” Virtual Choir, My best Advice, One World, One Song with Friends of Nagaland (10 countries), observance of World Music Day with ICCR.
Set Up with TaFMA (Basics of Good Sound Management), Summit Sessions (Professional in the field of Music and arts from within and outside the country), Summit Session with James Asher (Britain: “Tips for writing and recording songs,” Sunshine Orchestra started, Summit Series with Ritnika Nayan “How to get started as an artist: Management, press kits and more,” launching of TaFMA website, logo design competition, Ist TaFMA Virtual Box office, tied up with TuneCore, Photography competition, Indie- Pendence Rock 2020, My Minute 2 Win It, institutional empanelment, started TaFMA Spotify Playlist, Riga Cathedral Choir School Latvia and TaFMA (MoU), musician incubation programme, Virtual Mozart 2020, busking, capacity building for staff, Best of Hornbill Music Festival, seven seas of Christmas, New Year New Trick Contest, Seven Seas Music, San Francisco and TaFMA.
The report stated that TaFMA, under the department of youth resources and sports, exists to promote power and propel a rich and vibrant music and artist’s ecosystem, enabling musicians and artists from Nagaland towards a better appreciation of music, the arts, design thinking and gainful employment.
TaFMA aim to engage musicians and artists of Nagaland in the development and making of music develop understanding and appreciation of a wide range of music, extend their interest and increase their ability to make judgement about music quality.
It also aim to develop the ability of youth to perceive (proficiency) music as linked with other performing and virtual forms of arts, acquire the knowledge, skill and understanding needs to make music and develop the skill attitudes and attributes that can support learning in other subject areas and are needed for employment and life, e.g. listening skills, concentration, creativity, intuition, aesthetic sensitivity, self confidence and perseverance.
