Kohima, March 12 (MExN): The All Nagaland Pre-Service Teachers Association on Friday asserted its commitment for ‘fair selection process of primary teachers’.
In a meeting held at Kohima on March 12, the Association reportedly discussed various issues and problem faced by pre-service trained teachers.
President Khriekuo Miario during the discussion stated that the teachers post in the past was “more or less reserved for politicians as most of the vacant posts have been filled through backdoor appointment of their own candidates leaving out the deserving candidates who are well trained.”
The Association also reminded the Department of School Education (DoSE) that approximately 400 D.El.Ed trainees are graduating from all the different DIET Institute across Nagaland every year excluding in-service trainees.
It lamented that while the DoSE at central level is trying its best to provide quality education across the country by introducing different skills and programmes, the State Government on the other hand is not giving much importance to the quality education in spirit.
It further alleged the use of “all unfair means by appointing untrained candidate through backdoor appointment leaving aside the qualified and trained candidates.”
The Association, having concern for unemployed trained teachers, has filed an RTI about the existing post vacant for primary teachers, it informed.
It also affirmed that once the RTI is issued, it “will not remain silent but will stand committed and seek for fair selection process of primary teachers which are lying vacant at the earliest in order to bring quality education in the government school and strengthen education system in the State.”
