Team Dimapur to intensify random testing and vaccination till June 30

Dimapur, June 23 (MExN): To take stock of the present COVID-19 situation and also for planning out strategies for future course of action, the Team Dimapur conducted a coordination meeting in the office of Commissioner Police, Dimapur on June 23. 

According to a DIPR report, the meeting resolved to intensify the ongoing random testing and carry it out on war footing in crowded areas and markets till June 30, for which the team has sought the cooperation of the citizens.

Deliberating on the issues of vaccination, Team Dimapur observed that the death rate was showing a declining trend as many people have started getting vaccinated. 

Team Dimapur further decided to request the Government for more vaccines considering the high population. Also with more people coming forward for vaccination, the Team observed that 13,719 doses presently available in the district might be short as the District through the medical department would be taking up aggressive vaccination till June 30.

The Team also observed that the State government has taken the right decision by banning stoppage of trains at Dimapur Railway Station, which has help drastically in containing the pandemic.

Nodal Officer for Dimapur district Y Kikheto Sema IAS emphasised on the need for continuity of creating awareness in the minds of the people to be disciplined and to get vaccinated stating that the war was still on as the 3rd wave was expected between September/October as per expert prediction. 

DC Dimapur, Rajesh Soundararajan IAS said that the district was now in better prepared and observed that the present restrictions in place have worked favourably. On the other hand, he expressed concern for the business community and suggested for a calibrated approach. The DC Dimapur further said that the district would have to prepare to fight the 3rd wave pandemic.

Dimapur Commissioner of Police Rothihu Tetseo IPS informed that from May 17 till date there has been around 400 penalties. The CP observed that public response has been very positive.
