Thanamir receives medical supplies from donors

Thanamir, June 24 (MExN): In a humanitarian gesture towards the people of Thanamir, Dr Sahli Nijhawan, Research Associate from Nature Conservation Foundation (NCF) Mysor; Ramya Nair, Field Researcher from Wild Life Protection Society of India; and other two individuals Annabelle and Madhushree Mukerjee donated medicines and medical equipments to Thanamir village Health and Wellness Center (HWC).

The donations were made in the presence of CHO Sungjenienla, informed a press release from Thanamir Village Students’ Union and Thanamir Village Council. The donated items include three pulse Oximeters, one Sphygmomanometer, two Thermo scanners, 20 N95 Mask, 15 Azithromycin stripes, 100 Ceterizine strips, 50 vitamin strips and 15 cough syrups. 

The union and council while appreciating the gestures stated that Thanamir village, which is situated in the far eastern part of Nagaland near Indo-Burma boundary lack in every developmental activities including health care sector. Even though Thanamir village has HWC, it lacks necessary medicines and medical equipments due to transportation and communication difficulties. 

“As such, their act of generous and sincere donation is a great relief for the citizens of Thanamir during these times of crises where COVID-19 is now penetrating even to the rural places. The Union and Council have nothing more than to say thank you to all those donors and we wish them best luck for their future endeavours,” they stated.
