THE MAGNUS: A self-reliance building of ABAM inagurated

Nagaland PWD, Housing & Mechanical Minister, Tongpang Ozükum inaugurated a new hotel and restaurant ‘The Magnus’ on July 15. The Magnus, located in Alongmen ward opposite to Nagaland Rural Bank, Mokokchung town, is a self-reliance building of the Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM).

In his inaugural speech, Tongpang Ozükum said that the hotel is a much needed infrastructure for the town and its citizens, stating that he had previously heard of tourists not being able to procure rooms in the town because of shortages in hotel rooms. He also added that it was an opportunity for the young people to obtain self-reliance.

The Minister lauded the proprietors, Sungjem and Er Philip, for their entrepreneurial approach, highlighting the example that Nagaland has been called a salaried state with regards to people not being actively involved much in entrepreneurship.

He also highlighted the importance of cadastral survey for obtaining bank loans and mortgages, stating that the Chief Minister of Nagaland has announced Micro Finance Loans for the educated unemployed in need of financial assistance for entrepreneurship.

A dedicatory prayer for the hotel was pronounced by Rev Dr Mar Atsongchanger. 

The new hotel has 17 different rooms, including a restaurant, dormitory, single/double bedded deluxe, VIP Suite and a Round Table Conference Room.
